Be an Advocate for our Library!

Libraries and Parks For All initiative

On behalf of our partner, Library Foundation SD:

This spring you joined hundreds of volunteers in flooding the Council and Mayor’s offices with emails, letters, phone calls, and thousands of postcards, in support of library funding. They heard you, and they acted.

While this is a strong first step towards modernizing our libraries, we know that decades of systemic divestment in public spaces requires more than one budget cycle to rectify. We need to look to sustainable, long-term solutions to ensure every San Diegan in every neighborhood has access to quality libraries and parks.

This is why the Library Foundation SD has joined with the San Diego Parks Foundation to launch the Libraries and Parks For All initiative. Please gather your friends, family, and neighbors and join us on Saturday, July 9, 1-3 p.m. at the North Clairemont Recreation Center for a community celebration to kick off the campaign! This free family-friendly gathering will include fun activities for children, and an opportunity for you learn more and be amongst the first in San Diego to add your signature to the petition to qualify us for the 2024 election.

And if you’re interested in joining our campaign as a volunteer, we’ll offer a brief training after the program so that you can collect signatures from the folks in your networks. Details for the event are attached.

Just like with this year’s budget, we will not be successful unless all library-lovers like you join us in this important effort. I hope we’ll see you on July 9!

Thank you.
